On Becoming a Freedom Fence
Customer...
1. A Freedom Fence consultant will
visit with you and your dog and discuss how this amazing
system works.
2. Our Freedom Fence consultant
will discuss exactly where you would like your pet to be
able to roam, keeping in mind areas you want to
restrict, such as pools, flower beds, gardens and ponds.
3. Instead of traditional fencing, a 14-gauge Direct
Burial boundary wire will be installed inches
underground to define your pet's boundary. Rest assured
that our specialized equipment insures minimal
disturbance to your yard and grounds.
4. A patented Freedom Fence transmitter is installed in
your garage, shed or in your home. This equipment
produces a low frequency radio-like signal which travels
through the wire. The current is low...similar to
flashlight batteries, so there's no risk of shock if the
wire is accidentally cut. A uniform signal is guaranteed
because this equipment is designed with a signal range
adjustment, power indicator, loop indicator, and
patented loop tuner to ensure a uniform signal.
5. Your pet will be
compatibly fitted with a 360o
Omni Directional
radio receiver collar which will pick up the signal from
the wire when he/she gets too near.
6. A professional
Freedom Fence consultant will do an initial training of
your pet (you will be asked to participate), defining
the roaming boundary by introducing visual cues (blue
boundary flags) accompanied by a verbal and physical
correction (via the collar command).
7. If necessary, you
will then be equipped to easily take over the remaining
period of pet training or have us do additional training
sessions at no cost to you. After approximately 15
minutes/day of training over a short period of time your
dog will be trained. Once the containment system has
been installed, your dog will understand exactly where
he/she is free to roam.
8. How does it work?
Your pet will approach the boundary flags. The receiver
on it's collar will pick up the signal, and emit a
warning sound to remind your dog that the boundary is
near. Should your pet continue forward, he/she will
receive a correction through the collar. Your pet has
been trained to understand that the warning signal
provides enough time to turn back safely within the
boundary. Should your pet continue beyond the boundary,
he/she would receive a correction.
9. Once trained, your pet will seldom, if ever, receive
a correction and will remember and avoid the boundary.
The
Equipment
The Transmitter
The Transmitter
transmits the low frequency radio signal through the
wire loop around the boundaries you choose. The
Transmitter can be attached to a wall or shelf in a shed
or garage. It is attached to the transformer which plugs
into a normal 110-volt AC outlet. The Loop tuner dial
indicates that the radio signal is being transmitted.
The Red Loop Signal Light indicates whether or not there
is a break in the wire. The green Light indicates that
the power is connected to the system. The Range Dial
which is adjustable sets the correction zone (the
distance between the boundary flags and the final
boundary wire).
|
The Transformer
The 12
volt transformer plugs into the 110-AC outlet
and the Transmitter to insure that the correct
low power is available to the system.
Boundary Wire
14-gauge
Direct Burial boundary wire forms the wire loop
to carry the radio signal.
Boundary Flags
Small blue
flags are installed to give your dog a visible
reference for the boundary created by the wire
loop. These are especially necessary for the
initial training period. |
The Receiver Collar
The patented 360'
Omni Directional Receiver is a tiny box (about 2 oz.)
that is comfortably worn by your dog on a collar around
his neck. It is extremely accurate and consistent and
operates on a 7.5 or 9v battery which could last up to
12 months with normal use. The nylon collar is
adjustable and should be adjusted to have the quick-snap
buckle exactly opposite the receiver. This is the most
important part of the Freedom Fence system
because it is responsible for giving your dog the
warning tone as he approaches your property line. If
the dog proceeds, it delivers a mild electrical
correction. Once trained, your dog will learn not to
attempt to leave your yard.
